How To Convert Portable Basketball Hoop To In-Ground?

The pole must be cemented to the ground. But here is the rule you need to know! For a 3.5 inches diameter pole, dig a 3.5 feet hole.
Here is a thing to remember! It is not a few hour’s games. You need 7 to 8 hours, or it can even take a day or two. It depends upon your strength and workload.
Then, safety is important more than anything. Even though the whole process is time-consuming but the cost is way less than purchasing a new basketball hoop.
So, without further ado, let us jump on how to convert portable basketball hoop to inground.
Option 1 – Cement Portable Backboard Hoop Pole Directly In The Ground
This is the most straightforward solution! Get some help to start as it’s not a single-man job!
Now, prepare a mixture of cement with water. The ratio should be perfect! Use a screwdriver to dismantle the backboard and the rim from the pole of the portable hoop.
With a shovel dig a hole in the ground. Use a jackhammer if planning to add concrete to the hole. A level is going to help in levelling the hoop once you have poured the cement.
Then use a ladder to attach the backboard of the portable hoop to the pole.
Once you have laid down the hoop and dismantled the backboard and rim, now what’s next? There are two options available:
Dig The Hole
If you desire to maintain the 10 feet height of your rim, go for an extension. Get a long piece of the pole that can fit the original pole, ensuring the required length.
The best plan of action is to get 6 to 7 feet of steel pipe for it.
Tightly adjust both the poles. Now see the diameter of your basketball hoop pole. For instance, the diameter of the pole is 5 inches. Now, dig a 5 feet hole in the ground.
Make sure the pole goes from 2.5 feet to 3.5 feet inside the ground. Use a mixture of cement and water, around 70 pounds for it. Voila! Digging the hole in the ground solution is complete!
Improvised Base
An improvised base can do wonders!
If you are not into digging a hole in the ground, go for an improvised base. It’s a bit messy solution but good for all.
It may not look appealing to go for a cemented base in front of the house. However, if you are planning to go behind your house, an improvised base can do the trick.
Get an old wooden box and fill it with cement and water. The ratio here should also be adjusted well. Now, place the pole in that wooden box. The pole must be levelled in the middle.
Get some help to keep the pole in the centre, and level the rim with your ground.
Now, attach the backboard to the pole carefully with some help. For additional stability, add some more cement to the base once the older one gets dried.
With extreme stability, be ready to get a weird looking inground hoop. If looks don’t matter to you, then this is the easiest solution of all.
Option 2 – Ready-Made Basketball ProBase Is The Best Solution
