When it comes to producing excellent basketball hoops, Goalrilla basketball hoops are usually compared to a few other popular brands such as Lifetime as well as Spalding.
The company is so confident in its products that they call itself “The Toughest Basketball System on the Planet ™.”

Goalrilla GS54 In-Ground Basketball Hoop Review
This budget-friendly Goalrilla hoop provides you with some high-end attributes that will offer an arena-style basketball experience.
A 54″ backboard is built of 3/8 inch thick tempered glass. If you have a small driveway where 2 cars and trucks fit in well, this hoop will be suitable.
It’s known that tempered glass is super-strong, so there is very little chance of the backboard being broken down due to hard-hitting shots.
In terms of strength, the general concept is to get yourself a hoop with a larger pole. With this Goalrilla GS 54 in-ground hoop, the one-piece support post is 5×5 inches!
So no need to worry about excessive vibration or shaking.
Moreover, 2.5 feet offset from the post offers you a lot of space to play under the basket.
Like a lot of high-end hoops, this model includes a concrete support system that makes installation/levelling a simple job.
And if you need to, for any reason, relocate your basketball system, there is a choice to take the hoop with you (more in my Goalrilla GS54 review!).
Prostyle breakaway rim flexes when you try to dunk or place pressure. Aggressive players can match their skill level or playing style more than ever.
The powder layer guarantees rust resistance and durability of the hoop. Setting up is quite straightforward, as well as instructions are easy to adhere to.

Backboard
The Goalrilla GS54 features a 54″x34″ reinforced tempered glass backboard. As you know by now, tempered glass is the prefered choice in backboard materials.
A tempered glass backboard is likely to offer you a realistic gym like a rebound.
In my experience, this material combined with a decent-sized backboard is great for any type of player. If you like to shoot bank shots or throw alley ups, this is the stuff!
Moreover, other products like acrylic, as well as polycarbonate, will haze or fog in time leaving you with an undesirable appearance. A Goalrilla GS54 will never ever lose its visual charm.
Rim
This Goalrilla basketball hoop includes a breakaway flex rim that is tailor-made for slam dunking. Is that you maybe? Looking for a sturdy hoop that can take it?
The rim Goalrilla GS54 features are absolutely one of the best breakaway rims you’ll get to see on the marketplace.
When you hang or dunk on the rim, it bends and gets rid of all the pressure from the anchor system. Therefore, you will get the best experience even when shooting the ball from distance.

The Goalrilla GS54 has a readjust actuator that changes the height from 7.5′ to 10′ with a straightforward turn of the switch.
Furthermore, there is an elevation indicator that shows the height of the goal so you constantly understand what elevation you are dipping into.
This certainly makes it less complicated for you to see which elevation you are playing at.
Support Pole
Goalrilla 54 inch basketball hoop offers you a 5″x5″ one-piece steel pole. You will notice that the size of the pole is 2 inches larger than the others.
The one-piece pole is renowned for its longevity. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about any damage or eventually having to change to a pole.
Furthermore, the Goalrilla GS54 comes with a conventional post pad as well.
You see, the GS54 has an overhang of 2.5′. With the smaller overhang, the post pad is an exceptional addition. Its supplies included safety in addition to looking terrific.
Installation
The Goalrilla GS54, like all Goalrilla systems, utilizes an independent anchor system. Each J bolt has 10,000 pounds of tensile toughness to provide you unfailing support for your goal.
This likewise permits you to quickly transfer your investment if you occur to relocate. Just loosen the hoop from the plate and that’s all needed.
Just keep in mind, after that, you will probably have to purchase a new anchor package and after that install it once more.

What Are Goalrilla GS54 Reviews Saying?
Most positive Goalrilla GS54 reviews say that they are happy with the purchase. It seems like most people are thrilled with the quality and ease of installation.
On the other hand, negative comments are aimed at slow delivery, and lack of pieces.
Positive Reviews
- “Everything arrived together with nothing missing. I did hire a contractor to dig the hole and pour the concrete with the anchor system inserted. Once that set for 3 days, my son and I set the pole and bolted it down with little trouble. This took about 15-20 minutes.
Pole assembly was done by myself on the garage floor in about an hour.
Once the pole was bolted down, I had two more people come over to attach the backboard to the pole. We had the two adults holding the backboard while standing on ladders. Our sons stood on 5-gallon buckets and started the bolts that attach to the backboard. We then attached the two bolts to the upper bracket.
Once that is done, all you have to do is attach the hoop. Really easy!
The only issue is that there is some vibration after the shot or after grabbing the rim. It is not huge but it is noticeable.” - “The goal was delivered as advertised in 3 boxes. The instructions were clear and all the parts were easily identifiable and relatively easy to assemble. I was able to do all the assembly myself except raising the backboard which did take 3 strong people. I am very satisfied with the outcome. There is a small amount of wiggle in the pole when one dunks but for normal shooting and playing basketball it is quite stable and has a very solid feel. I am very happy with the selection and ease of assembly.”
Negative Reviews
- “The pole was missing. We cant install it without the pole. Amazon refunded the funds.
We called the manufacturer and they said they are having this problem a lot. So be careful with sellers like this. This was manufactured in 2011 and they don’t have poles to sell right now. - “Huge inconvenience. The packages arrived much later than expected and were incomplete. There was no pole for the backboard and hoop. Save yourself a lot of trouble and buy the Goalrilla basketball standard from a store.“

Wow, even from the first glance at the photo, this in-ground hoop looks so much more sturdy than the usual hoops that I see around the neighbourhood! I really like the tempered glass backstop for residential areas. This allows more of the natural look of the area to shine through without creating an obvious piece of sports gear in the yard. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a solid choice!
I agree with you 100%, Aly! And I’m glad you like the GS54 from Goalrilla. Do let me know if you have any questions!
When my little cousin was eight, we gifted him a Lifetime set and to this day he still has it. He’ll be graduating sixth grade soon and I figured it may be time for an upgrade. This Goalrilla GS54 is quite more affordable than what I expected; more so when we spent almost $2,000 on his last equipment which needed some repairs. Cant wait to surprise him next year with this hoop.
That sounds like a great idea! Let me know if you have any questions, Stephanie.
What a very great article you got there. My whole family is all about sports and basketball is just one of the sports. Being able to find a basketball hoop that we like has been hard. But after reading this review I think this is a hoop to look into. As it looks very sturdy then other ones we have seen. And the color and style looks very fun and something I love. Especially the access to it. So I will be looking into this.
I have just moved into a new neighbourhood where the kids are all playing basketball on the street (yes we are fortunate that it is a cul-de-sac). The basketball hoop that they are using is quite old and is in need of repairs, and some parent have suggested that they are better off getting a better, new hoop.
The Goalrilla GS54 looks as if it could be a great option for the parents to consider. And with costs being shared amongst 8 families, this is the most affordable and value for money hoop that I have come across.
