Goalsetter MVP Main Features

The MVP 72” is one of the most incredible and amazing basketball systems you will find. The system is made of exceptional quality with no compromise at all.

While following all the NBA set standards, the MVP 72″ is a great pick for all. In my Goalsetter MVP review, let us dive deep into each feature and analyze its power.

Backboard

The backboard of the Goalsetter MVP follows the regulated size for the professional players. It offers 72 inches wide, 42 inches high, and a 3/8 inches thick backboard.

And also, Goalsetter offers a choice between tempered glass and acrylic backboard material.

The performance of both the backboard is fascinating. You can enjoy exclusive bank shots and layups with no stress. The rebound performance is exclusive!

Furthermore, the backboard is mounted on an H-Frame design. The frame structure is made of 1 1/2 inches of steel tubing.

This design helps in receiving consistent ball responses throughout the game. The backboard has rounded edges, ensuring a safer play chance for everyone.

Rim

The Goalsetter MVP 72” basketball system offers a wide range of rim styles. You will find four options to choose from.

Goalsetter HD Breakaway Rim

The Goalsetter breakaway rim has a 5×5 universal backplate. It features mounting hardware along with a nylon net.

The breakaway rim has a solid steel construction with a baked powder-coat finishing. This enhances the overall look, similar to the arena style.

The breakaway rim by Goalsetter can easily withstand 40 lbs. of pressure downwards. With a 15 degrees deflection ratio, the rim features an angled guard to prevent injuries to the players.

You will find a one-piece continuous net lock as well for extra rim-to-net support.

Goalsetter Single Ring Static Rim

The single ring static rim by Goalsetter is recommended for places that discourage dunking and slamming. It is a commercial-style rim for the player, usually used in institutes.

The single static rim is not ideal for hanging as the rim is not flexible to endure the weight.

The rim, however, has steel net hooks welded to it. The nylon net provides great perfection to the shot, and with a one-piece continuous net lock, the rim-to-net support is also flawless.

5×5 universal backplate rim is made from solid steel with baked powder coating for an arena-style look.

Goalsetter Double Ring Static Rim

The Goalsetter double-ring static rim is ideal for institutes, outdoor basketball courts, and parks. It features a 5×5 universal backplate that fits all the Goalsetter boards.

With steel net hooks welded on the sides, the solid steel rim is covered with a baked powdered coating for professional finishing.

The double ring static rim offers 15 degrees deflection and can withstand 30 lbs. of pressure downwards. It means you can dunk and slam!

The Goalsetter double-ring static rim is made as per the standards set by NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations), NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), and NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).

Goalsetter Collegiate Breakaway Rim

The Goalsetter collegiate breakaway rim also includes a 5×5 universal backplate. The mounting hardware is of phenomenal quality, accompanied by a durable nylon net.

The rim is made from solid steel and has baked powdered coating finishing for a professional arena look.

Welded steel net hooks keep the nylon net in place even after a fierce shoot. Furthermore, the collegiate breakaway rim can easily withstand 125 to 130 lbs. of pressure downwards.

With 15 degrees deflection and an angled guard, the rim is great for professional style dunks and slams. It also features double compression springs to absorb even the roughest dunk.

The collegiate breakaway rim meets the standards set by high schools, NAIA, NCAA, and NFHS.

Support Pole

Goalsetter MVP basketball system features a one-piece steel pole. It’s an off-set 6 inches square-shaped pole, which provides lots of room for you under the hoop.

There is also a seven-gauge 3/16 inches thick wall. This helps in minimizing shakiness and reduces shooting errors.

The overall wear and tear over the joints are also reduced. There is a 4 feet extension available from the wall to the front of the backboard.

You will notice that the 6 by 6 inches steel pole has a quality powder coating, which can be treated against the UV effects. This decreases the chance of damage from rust and corrosion.

Height Adjustment

The height adjustment mechanism of the Goalsetter MVP 72″ basketball system is pretty impressive. It has an internal compression mechanism that is patented by Goalsetter.

More specifically, the mechanism allows height adjustability from 6 feet to 10 feet, raise or lower. There is no need to pinch and grab points with increased hoop safety.

You can simply grab the handle and start rotating it to lower or raise your hoop.

What Do I like About Goalsetter MVP?

Many of the advantages of this model are already discussed at the start of the review. But let’s finalize all the fascinating attractions of Goalsetter MVP here!

  • Steel one-piece pole for a durable and sturdier basketball system
  • Powder-coated to resist harsh weather conditions, and fight against rust, and corrosion
  • Professional finishing to ensure style similar to NBA hoop
  • Incredible adjustment range making it suitable for people and children of all ages
  • Perfect for dunking, slamming, and hanging on the rim
  • Tempered glass and acrylic material backboards with regulated and standard sized boards help in great bank shots and layups
  • A wide range and different choices for rim styles make it a great pick for everyone
  • Highly durable and strong basketball system for experts and professionals

What I Don’t Like About Goalsetter MVP?

Undoubtedly, this basketball system is incredible and perfect from every side.

However, in this detailed Goalsetter MVP review, I’ll be discussing some major aspects that I personally don’t like. Here is what you need to know:

  • The MVP is pretty heavy, making it difficult to assemble
  • You may need two to three people for help. Professional help can also come in handy
  • Not a pocket-friendly option

Who is Goalsetter MVP Best For?

After a thorough analysis of this hoop in my Goalsetter MVP review, it is safe to say that this basketball system is for all that love the game of basketball.

If you are a beginner, this hoop will help you learn from point zero to the point hero in no time. Moreover, intermediate-level players can also learn about dunking, slamming, and hanging on.

But, if you already know the art to dunk, then MVP is great to practice the bank shots, three-pointers, layups, and polish your overall b-ball skills.

However, the 6 feet height adjustability mechanism welcomes beginners and kids’ players as well. If your kids are set to become basketball pros, this hoop will be a great teacher.

And even if you are a professional athlete and an expert at the game, the Goalsetter MVP basketball system will help in practice from home by all means.

Conclusion

The Goalsetter MVP 72” basketball system is one of the most impressive in-ground models in town. It is jaw-dropping…

This hoop is similar to the quality of Spalding hoops. Its in-ground ability makes it a highly durable and sturdy choice with minimized to negligible shakiness when shooting or dunking.

If you are in the market for a super-quality hoop, you won’t miss with MVP 72″ glass version!

What I like the most about this one (except everything!) are the four rim options.

Engineers from the company have taught about every type of player. They offer MVP with a standard rim for amateurs and an HD (heavy-duty) rim for dunkers and pros.

All in all, if you are looking for a hoop that’s going to last forever in your home, the Goalsetter MVP 72″ basketball system has to be your choice!

With this, we have come to the end of my Goalsetter MVP review. What do you like about it the most? Do let me know in the comment box below…

  1. This is very nice.  I do have a question.  The price tag is high, and I am sure that is because of the quality and all of the Goalsetter.  Would this be practical for a backyard basketball hoop setting, or would this be overkill.  If overkill, what basketball hoop would you recommend for a backyard basketball hoop with a reasonably good-sized play area?

    Reply
    • Definatelly, the price tag is high because Goalsetter MVP is one of the best high-quality hoops in this category. And don’t worry, I wouldn’t consider it overkill. Typical backyard basketball court dimensions are 60 feet by 90 feet. If your backyard space is limited, you could also choose a half-court basketball court layout, which is 30 feet by 50 feet. And this hoop fits perfectly to those dimensions (even smaller!). But if 72″ is too big for you, you can check out the SB60 model. It’s got a 60″ (or 54″) wide backboard, which is considered to be medium-sized, but it fits great into any home b-ball court setting.

  2. I love the height adjustment aspect of this product. Do you have to pick one spot for this and it stays in that one place or can it be moved? I love shooting hoops, even though I’m short…lol.

    • Hey Nicole, glad to hear it! 😊 Usually, you have to pick one spot for this hoop and it stays there permanently.

      • Well, that’s okay. It looks like great quality. Can you still dismantle it and take it with you if you move to another house without damaging it?

        Reply
        • Technically speaking, yes, you can dismantle Goalsetter MVP and take it with you to another house. Whether or not it is going to be damaged during the process is your own responsibility. But often mounting and dismounting of the hoop is not really recommended as it may weaken the structure.

  3. I only have a 54″ portable goal right now and want to upgrade to an in ground hoop. Thanks for the great review on this one, I have been looking for a 72″ full size goal so I can feel closer to the pros haha and this one even with the high price tag sounds really nice.

  4. Hi, I’m just wondering, is it hard to install this hoop? I saw the video but it seems that they need at least two people to install it. However, I really love the height adjustment functions. It seems very handy. Oh, another thing I’d like to ask is the maximum height is the standard height for NBA? Thank you in advance!
